NBA All-Star Russell Westbrook traded to the Los Angeles Lakers

NBA All-Star point guard Russell Westbrook, who recently played for the Washington Wizards, has been traded to the Los Angeles Lakers to team up with LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The Lakers traded Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Montrezl Harrell, and the draft rights to Isaiah Jackson to the Washington Wizards in order to acquire the 9-time All-Star point guard.

Russell Westbrook has now joined the fourth team of his NBA career, as well as his third team in the past two years. Russell just finished the 2020-21 NBA season averaging 22.2 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 11.7 assists, which is the fourth time in his career that he has averaged a triple-double in a season. He had also just led the Washington Wizards to their first playoff appearance since 2018, where they were eliminated in the First Round by the Philadelphia 76ers in 5 games. Russell averaged 19.0 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 11.8 assists in that series.
